But how exactly can you perform the move? And going even further, is it possible to awaken the Shaq in you by hanging on the rim? Here’s how to perform all types of dunks, as well as how to hang on the rim in NBA 2K25.
How to perform all types of dunks on NBA 2K25
You can perform regular dunks in NBA 2K25 by holding R2/RT while heading toward the basket and then holding □/X at the moment you enter the painted area. In true 2K fashion, you can also perform flashier dunks by performing specific analog stick inputs instead of pressing □/X. - Two-Hand Dunk: Hold R2/RT while driving inside the painted area before holding the right stick down.
- One Hand Dunk (Using your dominant or off-hand): While moving forward inside the box, hold R2/RT before holding the right analog stick towards either the right or left. The chosen direction will dictate which hand will be used.
- Skill Dunk: While driving inside the paint, hold R2/RT and tilt the right analog stick up or down before letting go and holding it in either direction.
- Flashy Dunk: While driving inside the paint, hold both R2/RT and the right analog stick down while close to the basket.
Although it might be obvious for some, not all players can perform the dunks above, as their prowess will be dictated by their Driving and Standing Dunk stats. Make sure to also pay attention to the timing of your dunks, as moving the right analog stick too early will cause you to go for layups instead.
How to hang on the rim after a dunk in NBA 2K25
After performing a dunk while using the right analog stick in NBA 2K25, you can hang in the rim by continuing to hold R2/RT. While hanging on to the rim, you can then control your movement with the right stick. If using both hands, you will also be able to do push-ups and lift your legs by moving the right stick up and down, respectively.
