How to Find Salt in Luma Island – Destructoid
Luma Island allows players to get a hold of a wide array of materials as they slowly build up their land, which of course includes vital ingredients such as wheat and salt.
But although the former can be acquired by harvesting your crops, farming the latter can be tricky, especially if you are looking to keep a tight grip on your resources in the early game. To help you farm it effectively, here are all the ways to get salt in Luma Island.
Where to Find and How to Get Salt in Luma Island
You can find salt in Luma Inland by mining Salt Crystals. The crystals can be found on shores all over the game’s map, and are easily recognizable by their bright texture. Like with all types of crystals and rocks in the game, you will be able to mine the material no matter your pickaxe rarity. If you are looking to farm salt early on, the best place is by far the shore south of your home at The Farm, which will always spawn a few after every couple of in-game days.
If you are out of time or simply have the money to spend, you can also purchase salt from the town’s Fishing Shop for 100G per unit. You can find the shop by a small shore located in the town’s southmost area. As you can see in the image below, you can easily reach the shop by either heading right from the pier or simply heading down from the road connecting the town to your farm.
Although I have to yet get any by this method, there is also a high probability that you can acquire salt by destroying objects, as well as by opening chests and the like when exploring both the wilderness and the game’s many dungeons and temples.
What Can You Do with Salt?
At the time of writing, the only recipe I managed to spot involving salt in Luma Island is the Farm Spice, which can be sold in The Town for a handy amount of extra profit in the early game (160G per unit). To be more specific, after building the Kilin, you will be able to make Farm Spice by expending 3x Farm Flower, 3x Farm Mushroom, and 5x Salt.
As I am just as new to the game as my farmer is to his new piece of land, we will be updating this piece if we find any new recipes involving the ingredient. In the meantime, I highly recommend that you check out What job should you choose in Luma Island to start your journey on the right foot.
